The Groumf’s Hunt

🌿 Session 3

Transforming the Story Together

👦🏻Target age: 5-7 years.

⏰ Approximate duration: 40 minutes.

Objectives: help students develop mental images based on a story inspired by a children's book, and invite them to explore the story's imaginary path through movement.

Space: Prefer a space where students can move: gym, playground, etc.

🎯Pedagogical objectives

This third session aims to deepen story representation by having students co-construct its meaning. Each of the three parts revisits steps from previous sessions to anchor explored images and sensations, with the difference that students now become active participants of the imaginary path.

🟢Part 1: Collective invention of the day’s Groumf

Positioning: moving in a gym or playground, or in a gathered group.

> The teacher leads and guides the collective creation

> The students listen and participate

🗣️Example exchange:

Do you remember the Groumf from the last session?

Let's imagine its shape together today.

It won’t necessarily be the same!
Close your eyes: how do you see it?

How big is it today?

Who sees it with fur? Who sees it with scales? Who sees it with feathers?

Who thinks it has four legs?
Who thinks it has wings?
Who thinks it crawls on the ground?
So today…

Who thinks it has two eyes? Four eyes? Six eyes?
So today…
(The teacher can suggest options for ears or other attributes)

🟢Part 2: Movement exploration of an imaginary path, guided by the teacher and co-constructed with students

Positioning: in the gym or playground, moving.

🎯Objectives: The teacher revisits the previous proposal, this time inviting students to enrich the story's images.

Students adapt their movements to the described environment and participate in creating elements of the setting when prompted by the teacher.

As in session 2, a model session is provided in the appendix for reference.

🟢Part 3: Gathering and sharing experiences

Positioning: gather around the teacher. Students may sit in a circle on the floor.

The teacher encourages and regulates speaking about the shared experience.

Students put their experiences into words, respecting rules for collective speaking. This is the moment when students activate their memory.

🗣️Example exchange:

“What do we keep in our minds as an image for:
The cave?
The forest?
The mud?
The river?
The meadow?”

Observe the enrichment and diversification of images mentioned.
