👦🏻 Target Age: 6-11 years
⏰ Duration: 30 min per game session
Materials: LATUVU cards, materials to keep score
Setup: Divide students into teams of 3 to 6 players
🎯 Learning Objectives
LATUVU? is a card game that encourages imagination and oral expression to build shared stories. Students are divided into groups of five players, starting from a pitch and keywords to collaboratively create a detailed scenario. The goal is to stimulate creativity and promote continuous speaking in a supportive environment. This oral game boosts students’ confidence in their ability to produce language.
🔢 Skills Developed
- Oral expression
- Creative thinking
- Vocabulary related to the five senses
- Group work (cooperation, listening, building on others’ ideas)
- Structured storytelling
💬 Game Concept
In LATUVU, students are divided into groups of 3 to 5 players. In each team, a Reader shares the pitch of a story from the cards. Based on this setup and the keywords, players must create a shared story in two minutes. Afterwards, they answer a series of questions from the Reader. Each question earns points depending on the type of sensory detail in the answer (standard detail = 1 point; visual detail = 2 points; auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, or gustatory detail = 3 points).
🟢 Game Flow
1. Role of the Reader:
One student, called the Reader, “game master,” does not play.
- The Reader draws a card at random and reads aloud the summary of the situation under the illustration.
- The Reader then announces the keywords and immediately starts a 2-minute timer or hourglass.
2. Building the story:
- 🗣️ In 2 minutes, players add as many details as possible based on the summary and keywords provided by the Reader. The goal is to provide details related to the five senses.
3. Answering the Reader’s questions:
- The Reader asks 5 questions written on the back of the card related to the story summary.
- 🗣️ Players have 1 minute per question to answer as accurately as possible. The more details, the more points earned, recorded by the Reader.
✅ Scoring
It is possible to play without keeping score. However, scoring can be used as motivation. For the five questions:
- Standard detail = 1 point
- Visual detail = 2 points
- Auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, or gustatory detail = 3 points
🧩 Cards (Structure)
At the top of each card is the title, followed by an illustration with a summary of the scenario underneath. Keywords are listed below the description.
At the bottom of the card are five questions (not to be shown to the players by the Reader).
Notes for Teachers
👉 Some teachers may be tempted to turn this game directly into a written activity. By emphasizing oral practice, this game indirectly supports writing skills.
👉 Variation: It is possible to play without the images or keywords, keeping only the summary and questions.

LATUVU is inspired by the TELL ME MORE game structure from Synapses Games, but differs in two ways:
- It focuses on producing mental images related to the five senses. The option to give the most common answer, present in TELL ME MORE, is replaced here by giving individual answers richest in sensory details (VAKOG: visual, auditory, kinesthetic, olfactory, gustatory).
- All questions (on the back of the cards) relate to the story summary to avoid confusing players.
Note: A version using existing stories will be available soon!
